Daily 5 Word Work

I'm always looking for new Daily 5 Word Work ideas.  I spent a lot of time over the summer researching and trying to find new ideas to spice up our Daily 5 Word Work time.  I want to be able to change out the supplies frequently so my students stay engaged.  I've shown other activities or supplies my students have used in earlier posts.

Here are a few of the activities my students have enjoyed lately:

I bought the wooden discs and sticker letters from Hobby Lobby to create these.
They were embarrassingly easy to make!

You can find them over at my TpT store.

How simple is this?  I wrote letters on popsicle sticks.  The students put them together and they resemble puzzles.

I bought these letter tiles from Hobby Lobby too.

These letters came from The Dollar Tree.

My students absolutely loved this today!  It is Secret Code Spelling.
I created their spelling words by using the pictures from the secret code.
My Firsties had to use the code to figure out each word.  They had so much fun!

I found the Secret Code Spelling over at Mrs. Gilchrist's Class.
You can grab your free copy over at her blog.
I created a recording sheet and you can grab your FREE copy at Google Docs.

I found these at Lakeshore Learning.

They are called Lakeshore Word Building Blocks.  My kids love building their sight words and their spelling words with these chunky block letters!

My kids even enjoy writing their spelling words using dot letters.
It's like I gave them the most fascinating activity to do!

If you would like a FREE copy of my instructions for Dot Letter Spelling or AB Pattern Spelling you can get it at Google Docs.

Happy Word Building!

  2. Fun activities! Did you have to make the recording sheets for the code spelling? I didn't see them on Mrs. G's blog. Thanks
